2016 Update
2016 has been a great year: NCECA was a fun time for connections and showcasing some of my student's work at the K-12 show where one of my high school students won the $88,000 KCAI Merit Scholarship. In April I had the privilege of being a part of the Dallas Pottery Invitational, which was a phenomenal show and such an honor to be invited to. We spent the summer prepping the foundation and gathering materials for a new studio (see the Fireswamp Blog for more info). The fall took us into Texas Clay Festival, followed by the Cedars Open Studio Tours and the Pottery Friends Holiday Sale. I was also interviewed by Paul Blais on The Potter's Cast in December and the airing of that interview is still TBD.
February Update
This month should be a fairly productive month,as far as finished pieces goes. One kiln load just finished and will be unloaded tomorrow, then I'll be loading the kiln up again tomorrow night. Lots of travel coming up the next couple of weekends, but really looking forward to the upcoming show at 18 Hands Gallery, New Paths: 11 Emerging Artists. Opening reception is Saturday, February 16 from 6-9pm, so if you're in the Houston area, come on by! It'd be a great place to take a date for a late Valentine's Day evening out :)
January Update
January looks to be a pretty good month - not too busy, but still, things are happening. I'll be keeping busy making work for a show in February at 18 Hands Gallery. This month, one of my pieces will be represented at the Roughneck Exhibition that opens on the January 25 in Houston. Unfortunatley I won't be able to make it to the opening reception, but the exhibit runs through March 31, so I'll be able to check it out in person at NCECA. My wife started a blog last month - It's A Dirty Wife...I Mean, Life that talks about life as a "pottery" family. We're also in the works of updating some things on the website, so stay tuned for new features!
